EDE Center History
The EDE Center for Dance opened its doors in the summer of 1995 and this season will celebrate 12 years of dance education excellence. The Center is looking forward to another great year of enrichment and growth. The EDE Center for Dance serves as a base for the Eisenhower Dance Ensemble's community outreach and education programs. The mission of the EDE Center for Dance has always been to foster the appreciation of dance as an art form by providing the highest quality instruction to students of any age. The EDE Center for dance sets itself apart from other dance schools by offering classes taught by former and current professional EDE company members along with a staff of highly skilled, degreed instructors. The mission of the EDE Center for Dance is to foster the appreciation of dance as an art form by providing the highest quality instruction to students of any age.
Community Collaborations
In 2004, the EDE Center for Dance expanded its outreach programs to include a full schedule of classes offered at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center (BBAC). The EDE Center is excited to be teamed up with such an outstanding Art Center and looks forward to the 4th year of our collaboration. The growth of community involvement and outreach is of fundamental importance to EDE and demonstrates the quality of our dance instructors and the demand for their expertise.
Student Companies
The EDE Center for dance currently has four student dance companies that provide students of all ages with unique and valuable performing opportunities. One of the most exciting aspects of a student company is being able to share the stage with the EDE dancers. Rehearsing, performing and interacting with EDE members are always highlights for the students. The student companies take part in EDE shows by performing fun and entertaining Pre-Shows prior to some of the EDE concerts. In addition, the students will be performing in the community, bringing the art of dance to nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Our most advanced student company, Center Dance Ensemble, will be participating in dance festivals at Oakland University, Eastern Michigan University and the Michigan Youth Arts Festival, enhancing their training and preparing them for the future.
Yearly classes for children and adults offered at the EDE Center for Dance include Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Creative Movement, Ballroom, Stretch, Pilates, and Tumbling. New faces are always welcome. Join us and experience dance as a creative and expressive art form.
