EDE Center Student Companies

The EDE Center for Dance Student Companies offer wonderful performing opportunities to students while focusing on giving back to the community. The Student Companies participate in pre-show’s for the Eisenhower Dance Ensemble professional company concerts as well as community based events such as shows at the EDE annual Fund-raiser, Assisted Living facilities and Gilda’s Club of Detroit.

Kids Creating is for dancers 6-8 years old who love to create and perform in dance. The students in this company learn the basics of Modern dance and are encouraged to use their imagination and creativity to add their own flare to the dances they are learning. The dancers in M.Y. Move are approximately 8-12 years old. This company trains in Ballet and Modern level II. Last year M.Y. Move danced at the EDE professional company annual fund-raiser. Auditions are required. Mary Bischoff, Director

The dancers in Co-Motion train in Ballet and Modern level III and are approximately 11-16 years old. Auditions are required. There is no Co-Motion Company for 2007-2008. We do expect to have a Co-Motion company for 08-09.

Center Dance Ensemble - Comprised of High School age students CDE is our most advanced student company. This past year, in addition to concert and community performances, CDE was also accepted to the Michigan Youth Arts Festival, a three day dance festival held on the campus of Western Michigan University. The CDE dancers were invited to perform in both the Welcome and Gala concerts at the festival. Auditions are required. Stephanie Pizzo, Director
