Thank you for visiting the Eisenhower Dance Ensemble on the web! Artistic Director Laurie Eisenhower founded her company, the Eisenhower Dance Ensemble, in 1991 in metropolitan Detroit. Considered Michigan's premier contemporary dance company, EDE has achieved significant critical acclaim as well as enthusiastic audience support. The company tours nationally and internationally with 6-8 dancers and presents a local 4-5 concert subscription season each year. In 1995, EDE opened the doors to its school, the EDE Center for Dance, to serve as a base for the company's educational outreach programs. The school has since grown to include a satellite program at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center.

The EDE Summer Dance Intensive is in residence July 28-August 1, 2008 at Oakland University, located in Southeastern Michigan on 1,441 acres of wooded hills and meadows.  The one-week summer program for students, teachers and professional dancers ages 16 and over features an exceptional professional faculty from the Eisenhower Dance Ensemble.  Daily classes (9am-4:10pm) in Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Repertory will be offered. For more information, call 248-852-5850 or email info@ede-dance.org to request a brochure.

EDE is pleased to announce the winner of its first national Choreographic Commission Competition: Eddy Ocampo. Based in Chicago, Mr. Ocampo has worked with individuals and companies across the U.S. and around world, including Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, Houston Metropolitan Dance Company, and Kanon Dance (St. Petersburg). Congratulations to Mr. Ocampo, who will be joining us in the 2008-2009 Season to set a work on Eisenhower Dance Ensemble.
